Hotel Silberstein is located on Santa Cruz Island, the second largest island in the Galapagos archipelago, and the most populated (by humans at least) with around 12,000 residents.

You will find Hotel Silberstein is the ideal location for starting your Galapagos tours with its central location on the main Charles Darwin Avenue on the coast road of Puerto Ayora. It is a 5 minute walk to the Charles Darwin Research Station and only 50 metres to the sea.

Getting to Hotel Silberstein

Coming by air from Quito or Guayaquil in Equador to Baltra Island Airport in Galapagos, you will take a short bus ride to catch the ferry across to the north of Santa Cruz Island. Hotel Silberstein is actually in the south of Santa Cruz Island, in the Island's capital of Puerto Ayora so another bus transfer (40 minutes) will take you there.

During this 42km bus ride from north to south Santa Cruz island you will experience several micro-climates along the way. From the sea level to the highlands reaching interesting desert-like places and wet areas, before descending back down to Puerto Ayora, the home of Hotel Silberstein.

Top 5 Things to Do in Galapagos

Giant tortoise at San Cristobal Island

There is no shortage of things to do while you are staying at Hotel Silberstein. While the wining and dining, relaxing around the pool and garden area is nice, you will find that you are wanting to spend most of your time out exploring the natural beauty of the Galapagos Islands both on land and underwater.

1. Dive with hammerhead sharks or whale sharks at Wolf and Darwin Islands with an 8-day dive cruise.

2. Take an 'island hopping' multiple-day tour package and visit as many islands as you can. Giant tortoises, land iguanas and so much more.

3. Make 2 dives per day from Santa Cruz Island, returning to the comfort of Hotel Silberstein each day.

4. Take the ultimate Galapagos combination of diving and land cruise on board MV Astrea. Read trip reports here.

5. Take a walk! Simply walking around the port towns of Galapagos you will have sea lions walking alongside you.
